Since I have been pretty busy with learning everything for the new job, I don't have time to put together a really thought out post. So, here are some pictures I took on my break.<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://tinypic.com/" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic" src="http://i50.tinypic.com/2uqf520.jpg" /></a><br /><a href="http://tinypic.com/" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic" src="http://i48.tinypic.com/n2fkwl.jpg" /></a><br /><a href="http://tinypic.com/" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic" src="http://i50.tinypic.com/11vkwvp.jpg" /></a><br /><a href="http://tinypic.com/" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic" src="http://i49.tinypic.com/2h7djww.jpg" /></a><br /><a href="http://tinypic.com/" target="_blank"><img border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic" src="http://i47.tinypic.com/91cqh0.jpg" /></a>Mrs. Lovers Knothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498588323282692371noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6196858093073473151.post-76958843793813651642010-02-14T18:20:00.002-06:002010-02-14T18:39:12.642-06:00Year of the Tiger<div>Happy Valentine's Day and Happy Lunar New Year! Hubs and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day, but this year we didn't even have time to if we wanted to. Today is the Lunar New Year. Many Asian cultures base their calendar on the lunar calendar so the new year changes from year to year. This year it happened to fall on Valentine's Day. </div><div></div><br /><div>Lunar New Year is a time when you visit and spend lots of time with family and praying to your ancestors. Oh and lots of eating is involved :). There are lots of <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_0" class="blsp-spelling-corrected">superstitions</span> involved with preparing for the new year and what you can and can't do for the first two weeks. There is also lots of praying for good fortune for the upcoming year and looking at your horoscope.</div><div></div><br /><div>This year is the year of the Tiger and for me, I should be cautious this year. If you would like to know what your Chinese Astrology for this year is, go to this <a href="http://www.moonslipper.com/chinese.html">site</a>.</div><div></div><br /><a href="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn230/pinkposhphotography/kiethuongwedding/pinkposh-kiethuong38.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 479px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/nn230/pinkposhphotography/kiethuongwedding/pinkposh-kiethuong38.jpg" /></a><br />A few weeks ago I wrote this post about having an agent. Well, my agent pushed me to get a new job. It wasn't that I didn't like my current job, it was just that a new opportunity came up in something totally different and i was a little nervous because I had NO experience in this field what so ever. And I was afraid about being confident. But my agent pushed me and made me see that I could do this and that I deserve this.<br /><br />So next week I start my new job! And this week I will be off for a mini break with my friends and indulge in my hobby. So there will be no posting this week. But when I get back I should be able to post more and make comments on <span id="SPELLING_ERROR_1" class="blsp-spelling-error">everyone's</span> blogs which were blocked at my previous job.<br /><br /><strong>Have a wonderful week!</strong>Mrs. Lovers Knothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498588323282692371noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6196858093073473151.post-64182448474209769232010-02-10T21:40:00.003-06:002010-02-10T22:24:20.513-06:00The SocialiteSo I have to admit, I really don't know who Olivia Palermo is. Other than the fact she was a socialite and then appeared on Whitney Port's show "The City". But I have seen more and more pictures of her recently and her style and hair really catch my eye.<br /><br /><br /><div align="center"><a href="http://www.whowhatwear.com/website/admin/uploads/GOTM-olivia-palermo3.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 628px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 480px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.whowhatwear.com/website/admin/uploads/GOTM-olivia-palermo3.jpg" /></a><span style="font-size:78%;"> Image from whowhatwear.com</span><br /><br /><div align="left">I was excited to read in my of my magazines the other day that she was going to tell everyone the products she actually uses. Last month I did a post on <a href="http://loversknot.blogspot.com/2010/01/just-girl.html">Gwen Stefani's</a> beauty regime and was surprised to find that she used some pretty attainable products (unlike Kim Kardashian's $80 concealer). I think its comforting to know that "celebs" who have all this money actually buy products that we can afford. </div><br /><br />1. <strong>Vaseline </strong>- She uses Vaseline to remove her makeup. I have never tried this myself but it does make sense. I may have to invest in a jar because there are so many uses for Vaseline including making your own lipgloss.<br /><br /><a href="http://brandcom.unilever.com/b2Public/vaseline/en-US/article/Consumer/OurProducts/PetroleumJelly/mainColumnParagraphs/08/articlePgImageLocalImageData/prod-jelly.png"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 168px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 293px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://brandcom.unilever.com/b2Public/vaseline/en-US/article/Consumer/OurProducts/PetroleumJelly/mainColumnParagraphs/08/articlePgImageLocalImageData/prod-jelly.png" /></a><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from vaseline.com<br /></span><br /><div>2. <strong>Baby Powder</strong> - Olivia uses baby powder on her face instead of using blotting paper and on her roots instead of dry shampoo. I have heard of baby powder being used as dry shampoo but never in place of blotting powder. That is a great tip for anyone who has lots of baby powder left over from making their DIY dry shampoo.</div><br /><div><a href="http://johnsonsbaby.com/images/products/product_42.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 235px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 405px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://johnsonsbaby.com/images/products/product_42.jpg" /></a><span style="font-size:78%;"> Image from johnsonsbaby.com<br /></span><br /><div></div>3. <strong>Revlon eyelash curler</strong> - "My favorite drugstore find is my Revlon eyelash curler" (direct quote). I find this one pretty interesting, because I am a die hard Shu Uemura eyelash curler fan (I have been using this since high school!). I can't bash the Revlon one because I have never used it, but I wonder if it would work for my Asian eyes. I find that Shu Uemura works great on Asian eyes.</div><br /><br /><div><a href="http://images.teamsugar.com/files/upl2/2/20652/24_2009/475385f7b54f0d44_300.larger.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://images.teamsugar.com/files/upl2/2/20652/24_2009/475385f7b54f0d44_300.larger.jpg" /></a><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from bellasugar.com</span><br /><br /><div>4. <strong>Essie nail polish </strong>- Well "Pouf Daddy" in particular. Olivia prefers classic red shades that are cheery and don't fade. I like reds too because I find them eternally classic, you can never go wrong with red.</div><br /><div><a href="http://www.hfbny.com/images/174--Pouf_daddy1.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 230px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 230px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.hfbny.com/images/174--Pouf_daddy1.jpg" /></a><span style="font-size:78%;"> Image from hfbny.com</span><br /><br /><div>5. <strong>L'oreal Professional Serie Expert Liss Ultime Nuit </strong>- Apparently Olivia conditions her hair a lot and uses this after a shower. This product is a polymer-packed leave in treatment to lock in moisture. (Its the bottle on the far right.)</div><br /><div><a href="http://talkingmakeup.com/pics/news5/lor20.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 357px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://talkingmakeup.com/pics/news5/lor20.jpg" /></a><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from talkingmakeup.com</span> </div><div><br /><div></div>6. <strong>Guerlain Lipstick</strong> - Olivia prefers to have a pink or nude Guerlain lipstick. I have never tried this brand, but then again I am not much of a lipstick girl, only for going out and special occasions.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div><br /></div><a href="http://www.whowhatwear.com/website/admin/products/rougeg.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 250px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 250px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.whowhatwear.com/website/admin/products/rougeg.jpg" /></a> <span style="font-size:78%;">Image from whowhatwear.com<br /></span><div align="left"><br /><strong>What do you think of the products Olivia really uses? For the most part I tend to dress pretty simple with some detail that will stand out. That way I can avoid buying things that are super trendy and focus on clothing items I can wear for several seasons. Here are some little details I have been recently sporting.</div><br /><p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i48.tinypic.com/2my6sr8.jpg" /></p><p>This is the color I am currently wearing. Its this perfect pinkish brown color I like. It really reminds me of my fave lip liner. I originally purchased this to fill my current crave for <a href="http://loversknot.blogspot.com/2010/01/i-have-my-reasons.html">mannequin hands</a>, buts its a little darker than that. But that's OK because I really like this color on me. It is OPI "Barefoot in Barcelona".<br /><br /><a href="http://i46.tinypic.com/ngahlc.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i46.tinypic.com/ngahlc.jpg" /></a><br /><a href="http://i50.tinypic.com/2iw613k.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i50.tinypic.com/2iw613k.jpg" /></a><br />I am currently in love with this panther ring I recently purchased from Forever 21. Its silver with a bunch of rhinestones all around. I think the edgy ring adds a little bit of toughness to the plain black and white shirt and jeans I was wearing on casual Friday at work. </p><div><div><div><a href="http://i45.tinypic.com/rlw1np.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i45.tinypic.com/rlw1np.jpg" /></a><br />Here I am wearing the Ann Taylor Loft waterfall tee that I got at a great discount during the holiday season. It ended up only costing me about $8 for the shirt. It was so cute I had to buy it in a bright pink as well. I love the ruffles on the shirt. I can never have too many ruffles :) Here I paired it with black Express slacks, light pink Forever 21 cardigan, and a black skinny Target belt.<br /><br /><div></div>I also wanted to take a moment to mention these two lovely ladies who gave me an award on their blog. Its this little acknowledgements that make my day and make me want to keep blogging. </div><div><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGGO2gQZI8PNK6KQHvoUQLmpIqbKl0qBNupmdlz1G1nRmSTttCyHTxLUuuDjl5VUe7HoFkGnfSFHLrUFI8AZWfKOMTygUqUV6OhpeM6biCVuGmmnoqb_bRcLSCblswvlLEoA910AhtLcB-/s320/kreativblogger.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 185px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 200px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGGO2gQZI8PNK6KQHvoUQLmpIqbKl0qBNupmdlz1G1nRmSTttCyHTxLUuuDjl5VUe7HoFkGnfSFHLrUFI8AZWfKOMTygUqUV6OhpeM6biCVuGmmnoqb_bRcLSCblswvlLEoA910AhtLcB-/s320/kreativblogger.jpg" /></a> This Kreativ Blogger award was given to me by Rebecca from <a href="http://mustangsandhighheels.blogspot.com/">Mustangs and High Heels</a>. She asked me to share some random facts about myself, but I did that not too long ago which you can read <a href="http://loversknot.blogspot.com/2009/12/only-7.html">here</a>. </div><div><br /></div><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kywY6RBH2Tg/S2a-gWogYKI/AAAAAAAAB2c/dGKIoH192V8/s320/Picture+137.png"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 271px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kywY6RBH2Tg/S2a-gWogYKI/AAAAAAAAB2c/dGKIoH192V8/s320/Picture+137.png" /></a> I also received the "Easy on the Eyes" award from the lovely Andi at Saltwater Dreams. And since my computer got updated I decided to get a nice new monitor that makes editing soooo much easier. I had like a small I don't know 15 inch monitor? Small I know but I rarely used the PC for anything. Now that I have been shooting more that ancient monitor was not cutting it.<br /><br />I just wanted to show you a few photos from some recent shoots. I am still learning how to do everything, but I think I have improved a bunch!<br /><br /><br /><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4032/4329721882_b5a50698fd_o.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 412px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4032/4329721882_b5a50698fd_o.jpg" /></a><br /><a href="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2735/4329721854_d89e908099_o.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2735/4329721854_d89e908099_o.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><div><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4023/4328985585_9cb2212931_o.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4023/4328985585_9cb2212931_o.jpg" /></a><br /><div>I've been throwing the idea around in my head to do an anniversary shoot with my wedding photographer since our one year anniversary is coming up. Well back in November I <a href="http://loversknot.blogspot.com/2009/11/dont-judge-me.html">posted</a> that I purchased a Clarisonic Mia and hoped that it would give me this awesome skin. Part of the reason it took me so long to write this post is that I didn't get the results I wanted right away. It didn't make my skin worse when I started using it, but it didn't make my acne any better.<br /><br /></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left">Well I stuck with it and after using it for about 2 months things started to change. I noticed less blackheads and white heads, less clogged pores, and less breakouts. I am still having a few pimples and clogged pores pop up here and there, but I am still trying to figure out the best routine for my skin. One of the immediate results of the Clarisonic is your super soft skin. I noticed that after my first use.</div><div align="center"><br /></div><a href="http://a248.g.akamai.net/7/248/8278/20090813030216/www.sephora.com/assets/dyn/product/P245414/P245414_hero.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 250px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 250px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://a248.g.akamai.net/7/248/8278/20090813030216/www.sephora.com/assets/dyn/product/P245414/P245414_hero.jpg" /> <p align="center"></a><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from Sephora.com</span><br /></p><p>Right now I am using my Clarisonic with my Murad acne face wash. I am just trying to finish this face wash up and start using a new face wash I purchased, Neaclear Liquid Oxygen Acne Wash with Saliclyic Acid. I used the Neaclear was a few times already and I love how clean it makes my face feel without being over drying, which the Murad one can be for me at times. I am really trying to focus on using "simpler" products for my skin because I think I have overdone it in the past.<br /></p><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 70px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 224px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.cvs.com/CVSApp/images/fs/large/89613600031.jpg" /> <p align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from CVS.com</span><br /></p><p align="left">I have also been using the <a href="http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/">Oil Cleansing Method</a> (also known as OCM). I always thought that I had extremely oily skin, but in reality it was just that my skin was overproducing all the oil I was constantly stripping from my face. In the beginning the thought of lathering my face with oil made me cringe. But I thought what the heck I might as well try it. Well, I am soooo glad I did. This method really helps unclog pores and it makes your skin super soft. I am using a mix of Castor Oil and Jojoba oil right now and I think I will stick to this combo.</p><div align="left">The combination of these two in my beauty routine has really helped clear my skin up. I think with a few more tweaks to the routine I will have clear skin in no time.</div><div align="left"> </div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"><strong>Do any of you also struggle with acne after your teen years? Well I do and every one of you should too. You don't have to be some superstar athlete to need an agent, because I am definitely not one. OK the truth is my husband in my agent. Yes I realize that sounds completely cheesy, but hear me out.</div><div></div><br /><div>All of us need an agent to help us realize what we are capable of. I will tell you from my own experience that sometimes I am timid when it comes to change. Not nervous because I don't want the change, but nervous because I might fail. My hubs (from here on out will be referred to as "agent" haha) helps me with this all the time. While I can't tell you the exact situation at this time, I will say that my agent made me realize that I am good enough, that I could do this, and that I shouldn't be nervous because I don't have anything to lose.</div><div></div><br /><div>We need an agent to push us to our fullest potential and help us become who we want to be. Someone who believes in us when we aren't sure ourselves, someone who tells us that when its bad its going to get better, and someone who negotiates our contracts. My computer was off to get updated (which is running much faster these days) and I have had a few things going on that have kept me busy. 2010 already seems to be an interesting year for me.<br /><br />I wanted to show you all an fairly simple outfit I wore out to dinner with friends one night. </div><div align="center"><br /></div><p align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 600px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i50.tinypic.com/icu6j7.jpg" /><br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i49.tinypic.com/157ky83.jpg" /> <span style="font-size:78%;">Tee and Skirt: Forever 21, Necklace NY&Co., Tights: H&M</span></p><div align="left"><br /></div><p align="left">This past month I have realized that my "go to" outfits seem to be a skirt with a long sleeve tee and a statement necklace (and if its cold I will add on a cardigan). I don't know what it is but I keep coming back to this type of outfit. Even when it rains, I substitute my heels for some boots because I don't like wearing pants and getting them wet.</p><div align="left"><br /></div><p align="left">I picked up this fun nail polish from Ulta last week when I went on a mini shopping spree. It is from Essie's spring line called Lilacism, a fun pastel-y purple.<br /><br /></p><a href="http://i50.tinypic.com/296emo2.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i50.tinypic.com/296emo2.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><p>The real color is little more "purple-y" than the picture. I am really feeling pastel colors and nude "mannequin nails" this spring.<br /></p><a href="http://www.alllacqueredup.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/mannequin-hands-kyl.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 290px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.alllacqueredup.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/mannequin-hands-kyl.jpg" /> <p align="center"></a><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from alllacqueredup.com<br /></span></p><p align="left">I am really loving the OPI color featured in the above image which is "Tickle My France-y".</p><p><strong>Do you have a "go-to ensemble" or item? I was looking through the December issue and it featured so many goodies, great new pieces and some great ideas for party hair. What really caught my attention was the Beauty Talk with Gwen Stefani. <br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 399px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 652px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://cdn.buzznet.com/media/jj1//2009/12/gwen-sherlock/gwen-stefani-sherlock-holmes-gavin-rossdale-04.jpg" /> <p align="center"> <span style="font-size:78%;">Image from justjared.com</span></p><p align="left">When I think of Gwen, two things come to mind: platinum blonde hair and bright red lips. While I will never try to duplicate Gwen's hair color, I have tried to get those famous red lips. I was glad to see that she shared some of her favorite beauty must haves, including her red lipstick. </p><p align="center"><a href="http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/images/209x397/M300.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 209px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 397px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/images/209x397/M300.jpg" /></a> <span style="font-size:78%;">Russian Red from MAC. Image from maccosmetics.com</span></p>Gwen also uses MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. I used to use this in college but then felt that it was making my skin oily. Well now that I realized that I was putting way to much on my skin (as far as cleansers and toner), I think I am going to try Studio Fix again soon. Gwen thinks that it still gives her a natural look.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/images/209x397/M510.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 209px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 397px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/images/209x397/M510.jpg" /> <p align="center"></a><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from maccosmetics.com</span><br /><br /></p>So there are lots of ladies who are still on the search for a great mascara. What works for one girl might not work for another, but I am so glad I found this mascara a few months ago. It really adds volume to my lashes and its inexpensive. Gwen said her sister-in-law introduced her to this and it makes her lashes really thick and full.<br /><br /><a href="http://a1468.g.akamai.net/f/1468/580/1d/pics.Drugstore.com/prodimg/35532/300.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 300px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://a1468.g.akamai.net/f/1468/580/1d/pics.Drugstore.com/prodimg/35532/300.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><p align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from drugstore.com</span></p><p>I am sure that Gwen's hair needs some serious deep conditioning because she dyes it so much. But I was really surprised when she said that she uses Pantene Restoratives Time Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner, apparently her hairdresser gave it to her. Lots of people don't like to use drugstore shampoo brands because they feel that it doesn't do anything for your hair. I wonder if this particular shampoo and conditioner is an exception.<br /><br /><a href="http://pics.drugstore.com/prodimg/189971/200.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 200px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://pics.drugstore.com/prodimg/189971/200.JPG" /></a></p><p align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from drugstore.com</span></p><p><strong>Are you surprised that Gwen's must have products are items everyday people use? Its been freezing cold (to me at least) in Texas and I caught this horrible cough. Two bottles of nasty cough medicine later and I am almost 100% better.<br /></div><div align="left"><br />So today was a big day for lots of Houstonians, the lineup for the Houston Rodeo was released!!! OK I know many of you probably don't care for country music or seeing kids chase after some calves, but its just something hubs and I look forward to every year. The Rodeo lasts about the whole month of March and kicks off the the BBQ cookoff. Texans don't play when it comes to BBQ so they throw a big party for the cookoff to start things off right. The rodeo season is then followed by a month of awesome concerts! There is also the carnival that is fun for kids and "older kids", but if you don't care for the games you have to have the food. </div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"><br />Ever try fried oreos? How about a fried snicker? There was a time when cowboy boots were the trend and everybody was trying to get their hands on a pair, but here in Texas they are always fashionable :).</p><p align="left">I wanted to show you ladies some pictures of some cute looks in cowboy boots.<br /><br /></p><a href="http://img2.timeinc.net/instyle/images/v2/tl/061605_200x400_sienna.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 200px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://img2.timeinc.net/instyle/images/v2/tl/061605_200x400_sienna.jpg" /> <p align="center"></a><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from instyle.com</span></p><div align="center"><a href="http://s11.bdbphotos.com/images/orig/h/p/hpxwi0blqijg0ilp.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 450px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 675px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://s11.bdbphotos.com/images/orig/h/p/hpxwi0blqijg0ilp.jpg" /></a> <span style="font-size:78%;">Image from splendicity.com<br /></span><br /><div align="center"><a href="http://media.hollyscoop.com/Images/PGImages/27545239---taylor_swift.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 873px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://media.hollyscoop.com/Images/PGImages/27545239---taylor_swift.jpg" /></a> <span style="font-size:78%;">Image from hollyscoop.com</span></div><br /><div align="left"><strong>How do you feel about cowboy boots? I fell in love with a few pieces when I saw the pictures online so I bought 2 dresses not too long ago, but then after trying them on, I wasn't impressed. I purchased these the week before Christmas and the store was so hectic I decided to just purchase them and try them on at home.<br /><br /><div>I REALLY wanted to love this dress because it had bows and lace, but it really did nothing for my body type. Now I am not well endowed in the chest area, but it made me look really flat chested.<br /></div><div></div><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i46.tinypic.com/33cq25c.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div>Now this next one worked better for me. I think it looks really cute with the lace pattern and the chiffon edging, but I really wish it were an actual lace overlay instead of just a pattern on the polyester fabric.</div><br /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i48.tinypic.com/1112yki.jpg" border="0" /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i47.tinypic.com/5202nd.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div></div>I don't think I will be keeping the lace patterned dress because I just don't feel that the material is worth the price.<br /><br /><strong>What did you think about the Rodarte for Target line? Did you like and purchase any items? Or did you feel like me that it was all hype with nothing much to back it up?</strong><br /><br /><div></div>Mrs. Lovers Knothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498588323282692371noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6196858093073473151.post-55736699203174498872009-12-31T20:08:00.004-06:002010-01-03T16:43:34.164-06:00Only 7?<div align="left">I was tagged by <a href="http://veronabrit.blogspot.com/">Veronika</a> to share 7 quirky facts about myself with all of you. I'll try not to share anything that will make you think that I am completely out of my mind :)<br /></div><div align="left">1. I have lived in Houston all my life, a true Texan :) I wanted to move to Austin and go to UT, but I think my mom knew that it was the #1 party school at the time and made me stay back. I am sure my life would be completely different now if I went. I don't know if I would have ever met my hubs if I went to Austin.<br /></div><div align="left"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://blog.kir.com/archives/houston%20skyline.jpg" border="0" /></div><div align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from kir.com</span></div><div align="left"><br /></div><div align="left">2. I always carry a cardigan with me because I get cold pretty easily. Unless its in the middle of a heat wave in Texas, you will find the AC vents in the car pointing away from me. And my nose starts running when I get cold. I think I am allergic to the cold, is that even possible?</div><div align="left"><br /></div><div align="left">3. I listen to wide variety of music. You will find Zach Brown Band, Jay-Z, Michael Buble, Joshua Radin, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and random remakes. </div><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 383px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 558px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://images1.fanpop.com/images/image_uploads/Jay-Z-jay-z-919589_1494_1920.jpg" border="0" /> <p align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from fanpop.com<br /></span><br /></p><p>4. I am awesome guitar and drum player in Rockband. Yes I love playing all the musical games like Guitar Hero, Rockband, and even Singstar.</p><p>5. I love drinking Lemonade and Ice Tea together. If you have never tried it please do! Just mix half and half, it is so good. And of course being from the south I love me some sweet tea.<br /></p><p>6. I love the feeling of my teeth right after they are brushed. I don't know why, its just so nice and clean. I am so glad that I bought a Sonicare toothbrush because I noticed a huge difference after the first use.</p><br /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 300px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://www.dentist.net/images/sonicare-7300-new.jpg" border="0" /> <div align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from dentist.net</span><br /><br /></div><p>7. When I eat I like to save the best for last. Some of my friends disagree with my method and tell me that I should it the best first because what if I get too full to eat the best? Well I can tell when I am getting full so I stop and eat the best :)</p>And here are a few bloggers that I follow and would love to get hear their quirky facts:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.fashionbananas.com/">Fashion Bananas</a><br /><a href="http://www.femmerationale.com/">Femme Rationale</a><br /><a href="http://bonbonrose9.blogspot.com/">BonBon Rose</a><br /><a href="http://ahautemess.blogspot.com/">A Haute Mess</a><br /><br />Have a Happy New Year's! Here is to a fabulous 2010!Mrs. Lovers Knothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498588323282692371noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6196858093073473151.post-61303170192442672472009-12-30T11:00:00.000-06:002009-12-30T11:00:03.273-06:00Christmas and After Christmas GoodiesI love Christmas time because it means lots of family time and lots of eating, but I am kind of glad they are over because I need to start watching what I eat again and all these sales are not good for my wallet. Its been pretty cold here in Texas, well at least for me, and most of my winter outfits are pretty "blah". I'm sure you have noticed the lack of outfit posts.<br /><br />Anyway I didn't take a picture of my Christmas outfit for a post so I had to crop myself out of a larger pic for you guys to see. Yes, I am aware that is ghetto.<br /><br /><p align="center"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 209px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 500px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i49.tinypic.com/330s5sg.jpg" /><span style="font-size:78%;">Everything is from Forever 21 except for the tights from H&M.</span><br /></p><br /><p>I am in love with the necklace I am wearing. It is such a gorgeous statement necklace and can really spice up a rather plain outfit. </p><p>One of my little cousins got me these cute house slippers from Target. Apparently they are a look-a-like of a Juicy Couture pair. As long as they are cute and keep my feet warm I am happy :)<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKQrdNYB4_hLVXLcNhzj34cKwuT4g-uBgz1kMsHXAXriE054xb0AZrSr-pFVGcMRG7NoFFp7auAFGLywJdMwdU2pbtxz34kDUEP01L6QckpDzCbz7fPp0ZRnX_eDz47sVD2CNGJr5Dzr2v/s400/41JiHyLhEzL._AA280_.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 280px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 280px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKQrdNYB4_hLVXLcNhzj34cKwuT4g-uBgz1kMsHXAXriE054xb0AZrSr-pFVGcMRG7NoFFp7auAFGLywJdMwdU2pbtxz34kDUEP01L6QckpDzCbz7fPp0ZRnX_eDz47sVD2CNGJr5Dzr2v/s400/41JiHyLhEzL._AA280_.jpg" /></a><br />I also got some jewelry and a dress from my sister, a super cute apron from a good friend, and a neck warmer thing from another good friend.</p><p>I didn't really find anything with the after Christmas sales except some work shoes and a pair of booties. I never really liked the bootie trend, but the more I see it the more I like it. I'll post about them when I receive them. I also scored this super cute blazer from Ann Taylor Loft. They were having an additional 25% off. I tried to look for a picture on their website, but couldn't find one.</p><br /><a href="http://i45.tinypic.com/2m5xwly.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i45.tinypic.com/2m5xwly.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><a href="http://i49.tinypic.com/2uol075.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" border="0" alt="" src="http://i49.tinypic.com/2uol075.jpg" /></a><br />I love the ruffle detailing around the collar and how it flairs out a little at the bottom.<br /><br /><strong>Any of you ladies score some great after Christmas deals or get anything you really wanted? I loved the series and the first movie. I didn't even realize there was already a trailer out for it. And you know I have to show it to you ladies.<br /><object height="344" width="425"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/G14s9CdbQXY&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><br /><br /><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/G14s9CdbQXY&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowscriptaccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><br /><br /><div>The moment I heard 'Empire State of Mind' playing at the beginning of the trailer, I knew it was going to be good. The trailer really didn't give anything away (although I wish it did). I can't wait to see what happens in this movie. I've already marked my calendar for the premier and I might, just might try to catch the midnight showing.</div><br /><div>The only thing that gives the fashion the show has a run for its money is Carrie's closet. I hate fighting the madness that is always in the store and I can't ever find anything decent in my size. I much rather shop the sale online. I haven't ever ordered any clothes from there, but these dresses look really cute and the price is even better.<br /><br /><p><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 424px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 572px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://www2.victoriassecret.com/images/prodpri2/V289837_90R.jpg" border="0" /></p><p>Italian Merino Wool Sweater Dress. I was browsing People.com the other day and came across this picture of Reese <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0">Witherspoon</span> and fell in love with her clutch.<br /><br /></div><p align="left"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 435px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 580px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2009/stylewatch/youasked/091228/reese-witherspoon-2435.jpg" border="0" />It is a <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1">Rebecca</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2">Minkoff</span> Morning After clutch and I love it to pieces! I went to the <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3">Rebecca</span> <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4">Minkoff</span> website and it looks like it comes in black or purple with gold hardware.</p><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 280px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i45.tinypic.com/znx6de.jpg" border="0" /> I also love handbags with hardware (the clutch above scored double points). So when I saw this bag earlier on in the year I fell in love with it, but not the price. Its the Alexander Wang Coco Mini Duffel.<br /><br /><div align="center"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 261px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 236px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://www.bagsnob.com/images2009/cocoduffelaw.jpg" border="0" /><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5">Bagsnob</span>.com</span></div><br /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 304px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://web155.revolveclothing.com/images/p/r/TESJ-WY31_V1.jpg" border="0" /> <p align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;"><span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_6">Tressje</span> Monaco Bag. I do have a gray purse that I got as a <span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_8">bday</span> present from a good friend and that goes with pretty much everything too. But you won't see me buying an expensive handbag in pink, green, or purple just because I would find it too hard to wear it on a daily basis.<br /><br />What do you look for when purchasing a handbag?Mrs. Lovers Knothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498588323282692371noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6196858093073473151.post-52567100381096561762009-12-18T14:05:00.002-06:002009-12-18T14:41:55.921-06:00Something BlueOK just a quick post about something I just found in case I have any brides reading my blog. When I was planning the wedding I wanted blue shoes as my something blue, but I needed shoes that weren't so tall because I didn't want to be taller than my hubs. Well my search ended because all the shoes that were less than 2 inches tall in blue looked like something an elderly lady would wear.<br /><br />Well I am sure if you haven't been living under a rock you have seen the Something Blue Manolo Blahnik's that were featured in the 'Sex and the City" movie. I think in the movie Carrie says they are <em>only $500</em>, but I think after the movie the price went up to $945 (and that was the moment you heard brides' hearts breaking all across the world). This may be old news to some ladies, but I thought I would share anyway. <div><div><br />Here is the orginial. Image from stylefrizz.com. </div><p><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 470px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 323px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://stylefrizz.com/img/manolo-blahnik-blue-satin-shoe-satc.jpg" border="0" /></p><div>And here are the look-a-likes by Martinez Valero. </div><div> </div><br /><p><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 280px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 280px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41B2%2Bj5%2ByRL._AA280_.jpg" border="0" /></p><br /><div>Looks pretty good to me! And the price of $159 sounds much better than $945. However, I am sure that the Manolos are much more comfortable than these, but I am wondering if it would be manageable after you crowd the shoe with all the foot pads.</div><br /><p>Anyway, while I was browsing I also found some super cute shoes that a bride (or anyone for that matter) would love.</p><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 280px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 280px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41N2R5b5P-L._AA280_.jpg" border="0" /><br /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 280px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 280px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41HhFJ6X-CL._AA280_.jpg" border="0" /><br /><p></p><p>Badgley Mischka<br /></p><br /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 280px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 280px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41QmaVjr%2BKL._AA280_.jpg" border="0" />BCBG</div><div><br /></div><div></div><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 280px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 280px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41NIZiQqepL._AA280_.jpg" border="0" />Joan and David<br /><br />All of the above images are from Amazon.com. I think the yellow ones are my favorite!<br /><br />I love colored shoes because it adds a little character to the outfit. I don't have many colored heels, but I do have lots of colored flats. Do you wear colored shoes? Do you find them easy to style with your outfits?Mrs. Lovers Knothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498588323282692371noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6196858093073473151.post-76979933433936095762009-12-15T14:58:00.004-06:002009-12-16T11:58:24.755-06:00Hana Hou!Its been a week since I have been back from my vacation to Hawaii and I still think I have not adjusted to the change. While I was there, I got a few texts that I was missing all the snow in Houston and of course I had to text back with a picture of me laying out on the beach :) Cruel, I know. <div><div><div><div><div><div><br /></div><div>I had a fabulous time on the Big Island and Oahu. There is so much I wasn't able to do and hope to visit Oahu and another island in a few more years. The Big Island was phenomenal with star gazing on Mauna Kea and visiting the volcanoes and walking through a lava tube. I haven't been able to go through all of my images yet, but most of them have family/friends in them so I probably won't be posting those. But here are some general photos I took.</div><div><br /></div><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i50.tinypic.com/2elxu9z.jpg" border="0" /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 399px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 599px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i46.tinypic.com/69dgm0.jpg" border="0" /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i47.tinypic.com/rws46t.jpg" border="0" /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i46.tinypic.com/2yvq8wn.jpg" border="0" /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i48.tinypic.com/v4pf95.jpg" border="0" /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 399px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 599px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i48.tinypic.com/2u9q0q8.jpg" border="0" /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 258px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i47.tinypic.com/1z6dq9c.jpg" border="0" />This whole trip I was so busy behind the camera that I almost forgot to get a picture of hubs and I. This was taken before the sunset picture above. I just realized I look like I'm pregnant in this picture (which by the way I am totally not). I guess its just the way the dress is cut and the angle of the picture. Oh well.</div><div></div><div></div><div><br />This was the first trip my dad has taken with hubs and I. He had such a great time (because he didn't have to do anything, we just told him what time to wake up haha) he wants us to go to Europe next year with him and his siblings. I wouldn't mind going to Europe again, but I REALLY wanted to go to Asia.</div><div></div><div></div><div><br />Anyone have any interesting vacation plans in the near future? We normally don't do super big gifts for Christmas or any occasion really, but he knew I've had my eye on a pretty lens for my camera for a long time. And because I am a person that takes a long time to make big purchases, he surprised me by being sneaky and asking my friends which one I wanted and made the purchase. He had to give it to me over the weekend because I was expecting to borrow my friend's lens for our trip but she really needed it for work but only told me I could borrow hers to buy time for my lens from hubs to come in. :) I have great friends and a great hubs. :) I will get to play with my new toy in Hawaii on Wednesday, Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L.<br /><div><br /><div></div><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 345px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 345px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://www.bhphotovideo.com/images/images345x345/559071.jpg" border="0" /><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from bhphotovideo.com</span></div><div></div><br /><div>I have a really big family and sometimes its really hard to keep up with who likes what. So every year at Thanksgiving my sister and I make it a point to find out what all the kiddos like this year so we can make Christmas shopping a little easier. You know the kiddos are getting older when they no longer are asking for toys but rather clothes and shoes. And I have no problem with shopping for clothes, even if they are for kids.</div><div></div><br /><div>One of my nieces is just learning to read so she asked for books. I had a coupon for Barnes and Nobles so I decided to do some early shopping. I bought her these beginner reader Fancy Nancy books that I think she will like.</div><br /><div><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 185px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 278px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://images.barnesandnoble.com/images/35890000/35893910.JPG" border="0" /></div></div><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from BarnesandNoble.com</span></div><br /><p>And as I browsed some more I came across one of my favorite books from when I was younger and couldn't help but pick it up for her. I just about died laughing when I heard that he said "Ladies, if its ugly....its ugly!". Tim's honesty is sometimes crazy funny. If any of you haven't seen his show, Tim Gunn's Guide to Style, he helps teach women how to shop and gives them a list of the 10 essential items they need in their closet.<br /><div align="center"><div align="left"><br />Basic Black Dress<br />Trench Coat<br />Dress Pants<br />Classic Shirt<br />Jeans<br />Any Occasion Top<br />Skirt<br />Day Dress<br />Jacket<br />Sweatsuit Alternative </div><div align="left"><br /></div><div align="left">I think this is a great starting point for anyone trying to revamp their wardrobe. Stick to classic pieces that you can wear any time, even in 5 years. One other thing that is mentioned on the list that he heavily emphasises is the right undergarments. Wearing the right size bra can really make a difference with your appearance and confidence.</div><div align="left"><br /></div><div align="left">Here are 4 of my classic pieces. My shoes are not on Tim's list, but a pair of classic black pumps should be.</div><div align="center"><br /></div><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 238px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 633px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i47.tinypic.com/4ruosm.jpg" border="0" /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 221px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 582px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i46.tinypic.com/flblly.jpg" border="0" /><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i50.tinypic.com/33vgh9d.jpg" border="0" /><span style="font-size:78%;">Trench: NY&CO, Shirt: Banana Republic, Belt & Necklace: Forever 21, Jeans: Citizens of Humanity, Shoes: BCBG<br /></span><br /></div><div align="left">Oh and the necklace isn't on that list, but its one of my favorite necklaces. Sorry for the bad photos again, but I think its time to retire my old point and shoot camera. I sold my old beginner dslr (which was small) and I am way too lazy to pull out my new dslr camera to shoot outfit photos. I wonder if hubs will mind me taking outfit pictures with his point and shoot. hahaha wishful thinking.</div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"><br />Since I am on the subject of classics, this is one of my favorite red nail polishes that can be worn at anytime. Its OPI's "Bastille My Heart", which I think was part of the "Collection de France". After I took this picture I realized I forgot to clean up the mistakes. There goes my laziness again, oh well.<br /></div><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 300px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i46.tinypic.com/2gw8gf4.jpg" border="0" /> <div align="center"></div><div align="left"><br />Do you think Tim Gunn's list is a good list to go by? What are your favorite "go-to" pieces that will never go out of style? Any pieces you have that should be on Tim's list?</div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"></div><em><div align="left"><br />Currently Listening to La Roux - In for the Kill</div><div align="left"></em></div>Mrs. Lovers Knothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498588323282692371noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6196858093073473151.post-64263771399351926882009-11-18T09:08:00.005-06:002009-11-19T14:37:55.507-06:00Aloha!<div align="left">In 12 days I will be saying Aloha, drinking mai tais, and getting lei-ed. Yes ladies I am going vacationing in Hawaii! I am extremely excited because I have never been and I desperately need this vacation. Our last vacation was in June and that was before everything got crazy at work.<br /></div><div align="left">We will be spending a few days on the Big Island and a few days on Oahu. I wish we had more time to explore the other islands, but its OK, I'll take what I can get. We have alot of stuff we plan to do there like going to the Volcano National Park, Mauna Kea, black sand beach, North Shore on Oahu, Dole Plantation, Diamond Head, and Pearl Harbor. </div><br /><div align="center"></div><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 590px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 398px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://www.hawaiipictures.com/pictures/gallery/beaches/vkt_M24-C%20Black%20Sand%20Beach%20Web-LG.jpg" border="0" /> <p align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from hawaiipictures.com</span><br /><br /></p><div align="left">I am a little sad that we will be there before the whale watching season though. Hubs said not to worry, if I wanted to see a whale he would take me to San Antonio. Hahaha to see Shamu. </div><br /><div align="left">Any must see place or must eat at place you know of?</div>Mrs. Lovers Knothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498588323282692371noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6196858093073473151.post-41383570304850262182009-11-18T08:42:00.004-06:002009-11-23T12:34:23.227-06:00I just do.<div align="left">We had our departmental Thanksgiving lunch yesterday at work. The AVP came by and asked our newest employee if she was liking working at the company. I quietly said to my other coworker "No", jokingly of course. We both started laughing hysterically, we even let my boss in on what was said and she couldn't stop laughing either.</div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"><br /></div><div align="left">This got me thinking about the common questions we always ask and we always expect to hear "yes, great" or "I'm just fine thank you" out of habit. So what happens when someone throws you the answer you are not expecting to hear? Do we actually even really want to know? Do they even want us to know?</div><div align="left"></div><div align="left"><br /></div><div align="left">I was chatting with my friend who told me she had no idea a friend of hers was going through a life changing ordeal. I told my friend that her friend probably didn't want anyone to know. People sometimes hide their feelings or what they are going through because they don't want to be judged or have their actions questioned. Sometimes people pretend to be happy when they are not because they don't want to be alone.</div><div align="center"><br /></div><div align="center"></div><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 600px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs33/f/2008/303/3/0/solitude_by_serhatdemiroglu.jpg" border="0" /> <p align="center"><span style="font-size:78%;">Image from Deviantart</span></p><p align="left">All we can do is be there for each other, without judgement, because sometimes you can not help how you feel, you just do. </p>Mrs. Lovers Knothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498588323282692371noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6196858093073473151.post-74739462478407412152009-11-17T09:16:00.002-06:002009-11-17T09:25:07.951-06:00Everything<a href="http://i33.tinypic.com/307ojr5.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i33.tinypic.com/307ojr5.jpg" border="0" /></a><br /><div align="center"><a href="http://i38.tinypic.com/mt5og6.jpg"><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 600px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 400px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i38.tinypic.com/mt5og6.jpg" border="0" /></a> <img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 400px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 600px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://i36.tinypic.com/2r6ijgj.jpg" border="0" /><br />"And in this crazy life</div><div align="center">And through these crazy times</div><div align="center">It's you, it's you</div><div align="center">You make me sing</div><div align="center">You're every line</div><div align="center">You're every word</div><div align="center">You're everything."<br /><br /></div><div align="left">My friend <a href="http://emilyandbradsblog.blogspot.com/">Emily</a> and her husband were nice enough to volunteer and let me take some snapshots of them over the weekend. I haven't gone shopping in forever, and when that happens I feel like I want to buy everything when I get a chance. Last night I went to Sephora to use my 20% off coupon on some products. I've been wanting to try out the Clarisonic for some time now because my skin isn't in the best shape. It promises to make your pores smaller (and what girl wouldn't want that) with a 30 day money back guarantee.<br /><br /><div><p><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 250px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 250px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://a248.g.akamai.net/7/248/8278/20090813030216/www.sephora.com/assets/dyn/product/P245414/P245414_hero.jpg" border="0" />I got the Clarisonic Mia in Pink and was able to use it for the first time last night. Even though the instructions said I should charge it for 24 hours before the first use, I couldn't wait. I used the cleanser that came with the Mia and my skin felt super smooth afterwards and still feels pretty nice today.</p><p>I was really skeptical about buying this and thought about just using a manual brush because well, it would be so much cheaper. But after doing a little research and seeing the Clarisonic in person I had to get it. The Mia brushes 300 times per second and I am sure I could not do that manually. The key to getting rid of blackheads is to get deep in the pores and clean out the dirt and there is no way you can do that with traditional cleansing methods (your hands and a cleanser). </p><p>It is made by the same people as the famous Sonicare toothbrush (which I got one for hubs and I not too long ago). I bought a cheapo electric toothbrush once thinking that it would do the job, but the first time I used a Sonicare toothbrush my teeth never felt so clean. So, knowing what the Sonicare toothbrush has done for my teeth, I needed to see what the Clarisonic could do for my skin. I hope to give you guys a better review in a week or so rather than just my reasoning to buy it (not like I really needed one anyway :P).</p><p>I also purchased this palette from Sephora's Pure line.</p><img style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 250px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 250px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="http://a248.g.akamai.net/7/248/8278/20090519031252/www.sephora.com/assets/dyn/product/P240017/P240017_hero.jpg" border="0" /><br /><p>The colors came out so rich unlike some other palettes that look great in the packaging but doesn't have much pigmentation. I don't know how many palettes I have I just keep buying more (sad, I know). Sephora's Pure line is made up of 95% natural ingredients and does not contain all those ingredients I can't pronounce.</p><p>I swatched the colors in store and I think my favorite is going to be the middle on the bottom, a shimmering mauve color. The blush looks crazy bright in the picture, but when I put it on its just a touch of bright pink. I can't wait to try this palette out.<br /></p><br />Anyone else purchased anything at the VIB Sephora Event last night? I was hoping they would give away some freebies, but it wasn't even that kind of "event", all they had were some balloons on the doors.<br /><div></div></div>Mrs. Lovers Knothttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11498588323282692371noreply@blogger.com4
